The Floyd County Fire Territory (FCFT) is fire territory consisting of the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District and the New Albany Township Fire Protection District The Territory officially began operations on January 1, 2026.
In March 2026, the governing bodies of the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, New Albany Township Fire Protection District, and Highlander Fire Protection District each approved the expansion of the Floyd County Fire Territory to include the Highlander Fire Protection District.
The expansion will become effective on January 1, 2027, at which time the Highlander Fire Protection District will officially become part of the Floyd County Fire Territory.
